Instilling essential information literacies in the artificial intelligence era: Faculty-librarian partnerships

Academic librarians at the 2020 APM presented on the Association of College and Research Libraries’ Framework for Information Literacy’s alignment with CSWE’s mission to foster information literate students. In the era of artificial intelligence, we continue that conversation between librarians and teaching faculty to develop students' essential literacies.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
  1. Define algorithmic, data, digital, media, and information literacy and describe the importance of these literacies for social work students in the age of artificial intelligence.
  2. Incorporate learning activities into teaching to develop algorithmic, data, digital, media, and information literacies.
  3. Understand, recognize, and articulate the role of librarians in teaching essential literacies in the classroom.
