Four years after initiating a crisis response team where social workers were embedded into a police department; qualitative and quantitative data were collected from a department-wide quantitative survey and qualitative interviews. The goal was measuring police officer and staff attitudes toward this program and acceptance of social workers.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
1) Understand the qualitative and quantitative impact of the program on the police department culture and stakeholder buy-in after embedding social workers into the department.
2) Explore the obstacles and benefits of social workers working within the police department and present current research on co-response models.
3) Share the strategies and lessons learned of buy-in to inform social work programs working with co-response programs.
