This session examines equity in social work competency assessments using pre- and post-test data from MSW students (2020–2024), revealing demographic disparities and highlighting potential structural inequities. Attendees will explore potential biases in competency assessments and learn targeted, evidence-based strategies to promote fair and equitable evaluations in social work education.

Evaluate the Impact of Assessment Biases – Examine how structural inequities and potential biases in competency evaluations may influence student outcomes, particularly for BIPOC and male MSW students.
Apply Equity-Focused Interventions – Explore targeted, evidence-based strategies such as pre- and post-testing to promote fair evaluations and improve student success in MSW programs.
