Within social work and higher education, students are preparing themselves to accomplish courses, internships, and eventual licensure. While taking courses and preparing for the final steps of their higher education, students need direction that can prepare them for their internships and eventual careers. The key is care and compassion.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
Understand the importance of practicing and teaching mindfulness to students while in their social work programs.
Describe steps that can be accomplished within their courses that can reflect the care and compassion needed to help students develop their self-care routines and strategies.
Demonstrate findings from McCusker's (2022) findings that will help current social work students be aware of their own needs within practice.
