Addressing homelessness in community college: An assessment of the HOPE Program

This presentation of assessment findings examines an expansive Community College program designed to provide an array of wrap around services for students experiencing homelessness. Participants will consider the unique role of social work educators as collaborative partners in substantive support for marginalized students who experience housing instability in higher education.

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:

Attendees will assess an intervention intended to address homelessness and housing insecurity developed with the intention of building educational equity for community college students.
Attendees will appraise their knowledge base regarding community college student housing insecurity and homelessness and explore their roles in addressing these issues on their own and local campuses.
Attendees will consider their own institutions strategies and consider equity action steps geared toward facilitating students’ access to basic needs.
