Session: Student Voices on Antiracism and Inclusion

BSW Students' Perspectives on Antiracism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at a Predominantly White University

This study explores BSW students’ perceptions of ADEI in social work education at a Christian PWI following the 2022 EPAS. Using qualitative thematic analysis of student responses, findings highlight the importance of experiential learning, self-reflection, and institutional commitment to ADEI, emphasizing the need for continued integration into social work curricula.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
  1. Explore ways white supremacy can show up in volunteer, service learning, and internship/practicum settings.
  2. Evaluate the effectiveness of community learning across ethnic/racial differences in the development of ADEI understanding.
  3. Analyze outcomes for opportunities for program development and improvement.
