The DisCrit grading/feedback approach is rooted in Disability Studies and Critical Race Theory and MI. We applied it to a scaffolded assignment with BSW students. This approach acknowledges ways in which race and ableism are built in institutions of education and aims to prioritize the learning needs of marginalized students.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
1.) Discuss the theoretical foundations of this grading and feedback approach.
2.) Describe how this approach meets the needs of disabled students of color.
3.) Demonstrate how to use this grading and feedback approach in a core curriculum BSW course using an ethnography and auto-ethnography assignment.
